Guest Mode

Last Updated On 2024-03-22

Guest mode is intended to be used when you are at the build stage of a project, whether it’s on their live site or a staging enviroment.

This is super handy if you do not want to give your clients logins yet, but you still want to visually collaborate with them.

By turning guest mode on, any visitor to the website will see the WordPress Plugin on the front-end, so you want to make sure that random people cannot find the website (or face the possibility of people creating random tasks).

Turning Guest Mode On

To turn guest mode on, we need to head to the “Permissions” settings of the WordPress Plugin inside the WordPress Admin.

If we scroll down a bit, you’ll see a setting called “Guest Mode”, let’s turn it on.

Once toggled on, scroll down and click on “Save Changes”.

Setting The Default User For Guest Mode

As anyone can use Atarim while guest mode is turned on, the default user enables you to attribute any changes or tasks made to a user inside WordPress.

When using guest mode, we advise to create an account with your client’s email address (but do not give them the login), and set it as the default user. This will ensure they still recieve notifications.

You’ll find this setting at the bottom of the “Permissions” setting.

In this example, we have set it to “New Client”. Now if we go to the website without being logged in and create a task…

We can see that the task was created under the account “New Client”.

Changing Permissions For Guests

Also inside the “Permissions” settings screen, we can change what a guest can and cannot do with Atarim on the front-end of the website.

For a description of what each of these settings do, you can hover over the tool-tips inside the left column.
